Things I Love: Lemon Water

There are very few things I believe to be a cure-all or miracle worker, but I am definitely a believer in lemon water. For years I have celebrated the benefits, but have just recently started drinking it regularly again and I have been reminded by all the little joys it brings to my life.

It Tastes Delicious
Plain water is plain boring. I mean it tastes like nothing! I try so hard to drink water throughout the day, but unless I am extremely thirsty, I always struggle to drink enough. Put a little fruit in it, and I keep reaching for it because it simply tastes good!

Weight Loss and a Flatter Tummy
There is nothing that helps me shed away my extra fat quicker than lemon water. Anytime I have put on a few extra pounds and I want to see them go away quick, lemon water always does the trick. My weight goes down, and more significantly, my tummy flattens in a few short weeks of drinking lemon water regularly.

Clear Skin
I have been blessed that I have pretty clear skin most of the time. However, just like anyone else, I get the occasional pimple and breakout. I have found that when I normally am drinking lemon water that not only do I breakout less (if at all), my skin is smoother, and more glowy and healthy looking.

Natural Digestion Aid
I have felt that I have struggled with minor indigestion for a large majority of my life. I often am bloated or gassy or have heartburn. Nothing kicks my symptoms faster than a glass of lemon water. If I am proactive and drink lemon water throughout my day, I often don’t experience any symptoms at all.

My Favorite Lemon Water Recipe

  • 2 slices of lemon
  • 2 slices of lime
  • 10-15 mint leaves
  • 2-4 strawberries, sliced
  • 32 oz. container filled with water

Take ingredients and place in water. Let sit for at least 30 minutes to allow fruit to flavor the water. Enjoy!

Tip: You can reuse the fruit multiple times a day. I suggest refilling the container before all of the water is gone so that when you refill you are just diluting the already flavored water. This way you don’t have to wait for the fruit to flavor the water again.
